“My life - my real life - began at Metro”
This past Tuesday, Garbage played Metro at a sold out show, part of the Metro 30th Anniversary Concert series. One of the reasons we asked Garbage to be a part of this special series honoring artists that have been important to Metro over the last three decades is that the band has a very longstanding connection with the club, having played here many times as Garbage - and, as individuals or in other bands as well. The band did not disappoint on Tuesday, putting on an amazing show that will be ranked as one of the top nights of the year in our memories.
Besides an awesome show, audience members were treated to a little storytime too, as Shirley Manson recounted the little-known story of her first meeting with the guys who would invite her to join the band that would become Garbage. “My life - my real life - began at Metro,” she declared, sharing the story of the night eighteen years ago when her old band Angelfish played Metro, and how she went out drinking with the guys of Garbage afterwards, they fell in love with each other as bandmates, and the rest was history. So to that talent buyer who booked Angelfish 18 years ago, we thank you!
