You may now know Blue Öyster Cult for their Saturday Night Live spoofs, but we remember their first and only gig at Metro on August 20, 1986. The band, 19 years into their now 45-year career, had already seen the success of their biggest singles to date - “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”, “Burnin’ for You”, and “Godzilla.” BOC gave the audience what they wanted to hear that night: the hits (and more cowbell). They closed out their set with the popular live cover of The Doors’ song, “Roadhouse Blues.”
