Queens of the Stone Age: August 30, 1999

Riding the wave of their debut album’s success, Queens of the Stone Age performed at Metro 13 years ago today, August 30, 1999. Other Star People and Wickerman ushered in the Californian rockers’ house rattling set of skull-pounding riff rock that founding member Josh Homme dubbed “robot rock.” The set included their eponymous debut album in near-entirety, with a light sprinkling of The Desert Sessions (a musical collective founded by Homme in 1997) covers.
