1995 was a good year for Oklahoma band, The Flaming Lips. Sure, they had already released several albums (6 to be exact) and had been together since 1983, but 1995 was special. This was the year The Flaming Lips toured following the success of 1993 release, Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, including Billboard charting single “She Don’t Use Jelly.” When the group played a three-venue Chicago residency that year, including Metro on September 18, they were literally on the cusp of releasing their seventh album, Clouds Taste Metallic which was released the very next day.
