Barely a year following their “big break” that entailed a hefty contract binding the quarrelsome quartet to Sony, Oasis brought their chirpy airwave-playmate singles to Metro on October 15, 1994. The five-piece wandered through their acclaimed debut album, Definitely Maybe, including the winding hooks of “Supersonic” and classic rock-rooted “Shakermaker.” If Noel Gallagher’s effervescent, Lennon-esque vocals and Please Please Me harmonies didn’t reinforce the group’s admiration for the original British Invaders, their “I Am The Walrus” finale surely finished the job.
